Jedburgh and Kelso, both under 9 miles along easy driving quiet roads, in the heart of reiver country. This is the perfect base for exploring the Borders and its interesting history, geography, sporting facilities and vast range of activities.

The area is well catered for in terms of cafes, pubs, restaurants and unique shops many offering local produce in the charming Border Towns.

The Scottish Borders is renowned for game and coarse fishing on the Tweed and Teviot rivers , also many lochs and smaller tributaries. (Ask me for contacts) - Kelso boasts the world famous Junction Pool on the river Tweed.

Cycling is a pleasure on the quiet border roads whether following the Sustrans national Cycleway, the Tweed Cycleway or making up your own route.

There are plenty of walking routes to suit all abilities and show off the magnificent border scenery. Dere Street, St Cuthberts Way, the Abbeys Way, the Southern Upland Way, along the coast from St Abbs to Eyemouth, the Eildon Hills and many others routes in the Cheviots. Golfing is varied and uncrowded with 20 courses within an hour's drive. The Roxburghe Championship course is ten minutes drive, - 30 mins to the Hirsel, just outside Coldstream.

22 golf courses in the Scottish Borders, offer a Freedom of the fairways package which offers a good discount. Local Border Festivals run in each town, Many theatres, ice rink, and local events take place year round. Cashmere and woollen mills for fantastic bargains!
