Bishops Converted Chapel

Description: Bishops, a (detached) Converted 1840 Wesleyan Chapel. Converted into living accommodation in the 1980's but completely updated and refurbished as a holiday let at the end of 2006. Set in the tranquil lanes of North Cornwall, this property offers all the comforts of home. Furnished to a high standard the property provides 3 bedrooms, two of which have 15" flatscreen TV's mounted on the wall. Egyption cotton quality bed linen makes for a comfortable nights sleep. The twin room is located off the lounge area and has a double aspect with a large original window overlooking farmland. One of the beds is rather unusual as it is raised and built in with a book shelf containing a variety of books on it. Built-in cupboards provide sufficient storage for your holiday clothes. A bedside lamp and a clock radio is provided for each bed. The main double bedroom has access directly on to the sun patio. This bedroom has a TV mounted on the wall, good quality furniture consisting of two bedside tables, with clock radio, a set of drawers and a wardrobe. Table lamps are situated either side of the double Rebecca style bed. The bunk bedroom has its own fully tiled en-suite shower room with electric Mira shower, WC and basin with granite floor tiles. This room although located via the double bedroom has a stable door leading directly onto the sun patio thus providing access back into the chapel via the kitchen or patio doors, giving complete privacy and no requirement to disturb the guests in the double bedroom. The large family bathroom provides a bath, WC, hand basin, wall mounted heated towel rail and large stand alone shower cubicle with a Mira shower. The bespoke kitchen has an electric Aga, microwave, fridge (and access to a freezer), double hob, toaster, and all the quality utensils required for all types of catering with granite work surfaces. (There is also a round farmhouse table and four chairs in the kitchen area. The original wood carving from the chapel divides the area. The lounge/dining area is raised up above the kitchen, with two luxurious comfortable leather settees, TV with freeview, DVD player and a collection of DVD's to suit all ages. A CD/Radio/MP3 player provides the musical entertainment as well as the freeview digital radio on the TV. Wi-fi broadband access is provided for laptop users those who still need to stay in touch with the outside world when on holiday. A carved double settle a selection of boxed children and adult games. A dining table seating 6 overlooks the kitchen area. One of the main focal points of the room is the large Franklin woodburner for those cosy nights in on winter breaks. Logs and kindling are provided free of charge. The lounge offers triple aspect over adjoining farmland through arched windows, three of which are the original. All towels and bed linen are provided as is the heating free of charge. (Please bring your own beach towels). A travel cot and high chair are available. Sorry no pets or smoking.

Location: The delightful private south facing garden overlooking farmland has a sun patio with table and chairs, parasol, bbq, and gas patio heater. (Please bring your own coals). The surrounding area is awash with wonderful walks, birdwatching, a water sports and the nearby (3/4 mile) Tamar Lakes. Bishops is only 3 miles from the nearest village of Kilkhampton which provides for all shopping and drinking. Two local conveniences, two pubs, a butcher, a chip shop and chinese takeaway. The 13th century church dominates the village square. Although set in the quiet lanes of of Thurdon, near Kilkhampton, it is only 8 miles to Bude and 6 miles to the nearest beach at Sandymouth. On the Borders of North Devon and North Cornwall, Bishops provides easy access to a wealth of interesting and adventurous places such as, Barnstable, Bideford, Clovelly, Launceston, Boscastle, Widemouth Bay, Tintagel, Padstow, Rock and many many more.
