The Byre

Description: Accommodation

Living room with kitchen area. View across the Eden Valley to Cross Fell, the highest peak in the Pennines. A woodburning stove heats this room (and the rest of the cottage). It is possible for the room to double as an extra bedroom. The kitchen area is fitted out with a microwave oven, a Calor Gas cooker and a fridge. All necessary cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are provided. Main bedroom with twin beds, wardrobe, etc. Second bedroom with bunk beds, wardrobe, etc. Bathroom with bath, shower, WC, wash basin and shaver point.

Location: We are tucked in between the Lake District and the Pennines. The area is an attraction in its own right as well as giving easy access to the mountains and moors on either side. We are in a rain shadow area, so whatever you might expect in the Lake District, you'll get less here. Attractions for visitors vary from the highest mountain in England to the mighty Hadrian’s Wall; and from museums such as the award-winning Tullie House at Carlisle to the unique and mind-boggling Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, a French Chateau on the grandest scale in the middle of County Durham, filled with the most amazing collection of artefacts. And then there’s the Rheged Visitor Centre at Penrith, a feast of Garden Centres, and a thriving local alpaca industry, not to mention the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line running through some of the most glorious scenery in the land.
