Harstop Fold Lodges Sleeps from 5 to 6 people

Hartsop Fold

Hartsop Fold is situated 2 miles from Patterdale at the head of Lake Ullswater in the heart of the English Lake District. Hartsop Fold nestles in an unspoilt valley of the Lake District, near Ullswater. It exudes peace and quiet. It's the ideal place to 'get away from it all'. The established development of twelve lodges blends sympathetically with the natural beauty of the area. Lakeland offers such a wide variety of things to do and see. Whether you choose to walk on the open fells, along woodland walks, riverside paths, lake shores, coastal paths or mountain peaks, they're all within easy reach. You could even abandon your car for the whole of your stay and walk straight from the doorstep of your lodge.

From fell-walking to sailing, mountain climbing to fishing, or pony trekking to birdwatching, Hartsop Fold provides the ideal base for your Lakeland break - whatever the time of year. We can't guarantee warm weather all the year, but we do guarantee a warm welcome and a comfortable stay in one of the most peaceful and beautiful corners of Lakeland.

The Scandinavian lodges have been designed and furnished to allow you to enjoy your holiday in comfort and ease. The high- specification building provides good insulation - keeping the inside cool in summer and warm in winter. The interior design is also typically Scandinavian, with pine fittings and furniture.

The 'utility' areas are functional - they've been designed with active holidaymakers in mind. The kitchen area is well equipped with appliances and utencils that allow you to spend the minimum amount of time cooking for the family. Bedroom areas are neat and compact with adequate wardrobe space. A colour television is provided in the lounge and there is a launderette which services the twelve lodges. To take full advantage of the scenic and peaceful location, there's a large covered verandah.

There are countless opportunities for outdoor activities in the Lake District around Hartsop. Whether you want an energetic action-packed holiday or the more peaceful relaxing pleasures of painting or fishing, the natural beauty of Lakeland provides a spectacular setting. If you have a particular interest in a sport or craft, for example, we'd be happy to put you in touch with local experts who can take reservations for lessons, courses, equipment hire etc. Call our enquiry office for details.

For those who want to use Hartsop Fold as a base for exploring the heritage of Cumbria, there's plenty of scope within easy reach, and interpretive information is readily available. Expert advice is available at the local Tourist Information Centres. In addition to the many permanent attractions, there are many more events taking place throughout the year - some especially of interest to tourists (eg. Hound trails, Country shows,Sheepdog trials,Cumberland Wrestling, Fell Runing etc. in late July and August), many following the centuries' old traditions of the Lakeland hill farming communities.
