Description: Bakers Mill Farm dates from the early 17th century and has been carefully restored to provide very comfortable accomodation in a courtyard setting with a rill and small pond. Wildlife abounds on the farm and you can see rabbits, foxes, badgers, and deer, which can frequently be seen grazing in the fields beside the cottages. There is an abundance of bird life too - heron, geese, ducks, swans and buzzards can all be seen, along with many smaller species. Location: Our working farm, nestling in the beautiful, tranquil Axe valley, surrounded by the rolling hills and picturesque villages of West Dorset - made famous by Thomas Hardy - makes an ideal holiday retreat. The village of Mosterton, with its shop, post office and local pub is only about 15 minutes walk. The lanes, bridleways and footpaths known as 'harrowed ways' are numerous and a great way to see the local area, whether by horseback, cycle or walking. There are also facilities in the local area for golf, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and llama trekking. Beaminster, with more than 200 listed buildings, is close by, and there are several other historic market towns in the area, along with many stately homes and gardens. The dramatic scenary of the Jurassic Heritage Coast is a short distance away. |
