Montrose House

Description: Occupying the entire first floor of a listed period former mansion house, with private front door entry, this spacious apartment enjoys panoramic views over Scotland's largest loch in Scotland's first National Park. Close by, the popular West Highland Walkway beckons, as it weaves its way towards Fort William, a mere 90-odd-mile stroll. Just 7 miles further along the delightful lochside, Ben Lomond awaits, towering over the shores of Loch Lomond...but the views are superb, weather permitting, and the upward path is obvious as you trek on up through the forest showing the popularity of this mountain. Loch Lomond is the single biggest expanse of inland water in the British Isles, and brings together two very different Scotland’s. The sheltered harbour at Balmaha is ideal for sailing and water-sports, with walking and hiking enthusiasts also well catered for. A little further afield there is Balloch Castle Country Park where you can take a gentle stroll or Queen Elizabeth Forest Park which will lead you past charming lochside villages and sandy bays. If a more strenuous walk is more your style, you need to go north to the mountains. Magnificent scenery, opportunities for water sports, scenic villages and ancient castles, are all within easy reach. All on first floor: Lounge, dining room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms - 2 double, one with en-suite bathroom & toilet, accessed via a dressing room with single bed, 1 room with 3 single beds, bathroom with shower cubicle & toilet.

Location: Drymen, 4 miles, has a hotel/restaurant, 18-hole golf and shops. Helensburgh is 19 miles, and Stirling is 28 miles. Shop, food and restaurant in village. This popular tourist area is one of the most attractive in Scotland. Balmaha is located within the Loch Lomond National Scenic Area and near to the LOCH LOMOND NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE. In July 2002 the area became part of Scotland's first NATIONAL PARK (the second largest National Park in the UK). The MILLENNIUM FOREST CENTRE is 2 miles to the north at Cashel. Visitor facilities are on hand in BALMAHA and at MILARROCHY BAY, 1 mile to the north. THE WEST HIGHLAND WAY passes to the rear of Montrose House with access to CONIC HILL from which there are magnificent views over Loch Lomond and beyond. BEN LOMOND 7 miles (11 km). The Oak Tree Restaurant, the yacht marina and the Visitor Centre are in Balmaha village. The village of Drymen is 3.3 miles (5.4 kilometers) distant and has a small supermarket, restaurant and "take away" food. Intercity railway stations at Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
