Old School Cottage

Description: Old School Cottage is a brick and flint 18th century character cottage renovated to a very high standard and situated in a quiet conservation village on the edge of Thetford Forest, in the Breckland area of Norfolk. The cottage is warm and welcoming, with plenty of space, home comforts and a wealth of beams and other period features. The accommodation comprises: Sitting Room with open fire, Dining Room, fitted kitchen, Bathroom/WC with shower over the bath. The double bedroom, with king-size bed, overlooks the pretty garden and has a connecting door to a twin bedroom. Each bedroom can be accessed by separate staircases. The cottage is equipped with washing machine, tumble drier, electric cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, radio/CD player, colour TV, DVD, video recorder and payphone. There is also a huge stock of up-to-date tourist brochures (approx. 900!), books, games and local videos. No charge is made for bed linen (duvets), towels (inc. tea towels), oil fired central heating, hot water or electricity. A free basket of logs is provided for the open fire. Old School Cottage has its own enclosed south-facing private 'cottage' garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. There is off-road parking for 2 cars.

Location: Situated in a quiet conservation village in the Breckland area of Norfolk, on the edge of Thetford Forest, Old School Cottage is an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers - but also has lots to offer those who like to visit the many attractions of East Anglia and those who want a quiet and restful holiday. Breckland encompasses a vast area of forest and heathland bordering Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, and it has, reputedly, the driest climate in the UK. Breckland offers great opportunities for the walker, with many way-marked trails in Thetford Forest and local nature reserves. For the cyclist, there are graded routes in Thetford Forest as well as a selection of other routes in the area. Breckland is also an ideal touring centre for visiting many other attractions of a different sort. The area in, and around, Breckland was, in early medieval times, one of the most prosperous in England: this is the reason why there are so many interesting market towns, magnificent stately homes and gardens, historic sites, beautiful churches (over 650 in Norfolk and many in Suffolk), imposing cathedrals and colourful villages. The Norfolk and Suffolk coast and the Norfolk Broads are also accessible.
