Loch Tay Lodges

Description: Originally constructed by the Earl of Breadalbane in the mid 1800s as estate worker’s cottages, these fascinating lodges have been rebuilt for self-catering. They have been specially converted and are contained within a building listed as being of special historic and architectural interest. Situated in the heart of Highland Perthshire.

All the lodges are fully equipped and furnished including bed linen, duvets, electric blankets, towels and utensils, with wall to wall carpeting throughout. The pine woodwork blends with the original stone work and colourful furnishings to give a very homely welcome. Each lodge has a bath, electric cooker, fridge, washing machine and television. A washing line and tumble drier are available, together with heated drying space for outdoor clothes. All the lodges have electric fires and four lodges also enjoy the charm of an open fire with free logs provided. Drummond has a shower over the bath while Revard and Tomgarrow have shower attachments to the bath taps. Laggan offers an AquaSoothe bath lift for the less mobile. £1.00 coin operated meters are in use, £3.00 are provided to get you started.

Location: Our many returning visitors greatly prize the tranquillity of the lodge's setting and the leisurely nature of the pursuits available locally. A comprehensive pack of information on activities and visitor attractions is provided in your lodge so there's no need to spend the first two days researching the opportunities. Fishing is a popular pursuit with visitors, free access to private moorings and a jetty on Loch Tay are available to those guests owning sailing boats or boards. Two boats complete with life-jackets, outboard engines and storm shelters are available for hire. Trout fishing is available with free permits and peaceful summer picnics for the family may be taken upon the water.

There are several exceptional golf courses available from rolling parkland to testing 9-holers, all within a half hour drive - and Gleneagles is only over the hill! Taymouth Castle golf course is an exceptional rolling parkland course. Testing nine holes at Kenmore, Strathtay and Killin are all within a half hour drive. Other activities include hill walking and bird watching. Species to look out for include the golden eagle, gold crest, gold finch and the golden eye. The Loch and River Tay also offer the opportunity for many water pursuits including white water rafting, water skiing and canoeing. Snow skiing is available when the weather is suitable at either Glenshee or Glencoe. For those less committed to outdoor pursuits, Blair Castle, Menzies Castle, Dunkeld Cathedral or Pitlochry Theatre, together with several small distilleries, are all within easy reach. The central position of Loch Tay Lodges permits the leisurely discovery of the wildly differing delights of Scotland's east and west coasts - both are an easy day trip by car.
