Rocksite

Description: Rocksite is a spacious, character-filled, Scandinavian-style log house with one twin and two double bedrooms plus a cot and a high-chair for an infant. Fully equipped for comfortable living, it includes two bathrooms (one en-suite), a furnished, south-facing terrace with a barbecue and parasol, and a west-facing sun lounge that's ideal for enjoying the long summer evenings. Wild deer are frequent visitors to the grounds (there are no fences), and native red squirrels - now rare in most of Britain - frequent the nut box just outside the lounge windows. The woods around the house abound with all kinds of birds and other wildlife. With trees to climb, heights to storm, huts to build and wildlife to spot, Rocksite is a paradise playground for children who enjoy the outdoors, although the absence of fences means it is not suitable for very young children to play outside unaccompanied. Your well-trained dog is welcome, and with the wide-open spaces to run around in and the abundance of wildlife scent to follow, your hound will think he's in Heaven! Visit our website, www.glenderby.co.uk, for full details of the facilities available and to see more pictures and find out what previous guests thought about their holidays at Rocksite.

Location: Rocksite nestles in beautiful, wildlife-rich native pinewoods just outside the attractive village of Kirkmichael on a south-facing hillside overlooking the stunning 07 mosaic of Strathardle - a scenic jewel unspoiled by mass tourism. On a private road with no close neighbours, the peace and quiet are addictive. The village with its well stocked shop and post office with fuel pumps, and two more hotels, are less than a mile away. Wonderful wilderness walks start from the doorstep, and there is a host of leisure activities available in the district. Many of Scotland's finest golf courses (including Carnousite, Gleneagles and St. Andrews), visitor attractions, historic cities (Edinburgh, Stirling, Aberdeen) and shopping towns (including Perth and Dundee) are an easy drive away, making it an ideal base for touring. It is just 13 miles (21 kilometres) from the attractive county town of Blairgowrie to the south, and the same distance from the popular visitor town of Pitlochry to the west.
