From medieval England to the present day Bury St Edmunds is steeped in the rise and fall of English history. Aldeburgh, once a busy, thriving port, this town has suffered storm damage and coastal erosion, but is still a fishing port to this day. The 16th century Moot Hall once stood in the town centre, now its on the sea wall!

Many musical connections, Benjamins Brittens 'Peter Grimes' was set here and Britten and Peter Pears, the singer and Brittens friend, are all buried in the church yard.
