Ayrshire, birthplace of Robert Burns, one of Scotlands most celebrated sons, even after his death over 200 years ago thousands still celebrate Burns Night with the traditional supper of haggis, neeps and tatties. Days out include Culzean Castle and Country Park, often described as the Jewel in the Crown for the National Trust of Scotland, Ayr racecourse, for a great day at the races, or how about a boat trip around Ailsa Craig where you can see spectacular birds and wildlife. Visiting the Isle of Arran is also a must with ferries leaving Ardrossan daily. Crosbie church and cemetery was first recorded in 1229, the present structure dates from 1691. Tradition claims that the roof blew off on the day in 1759 that Robert Burns was born and it was left to become a ruin.
