Location:
Beautiful beaches, unspoilt countryside, traditional towns, historic sites and charming resorts it's easy to see why Suffolk is a holiday hotspot. Picture-postcard Southwold, Aldeburgh and Felixstowe are as fashionable now as they were generations ago, affluent Walberswick is home to the annual British Open Crabbing Championship, and for quirkiness of a different kind you mustn't miss the ‘model village’ of Thorpeness. A wealth of historical sites include the Anglo-Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo and neolithic Grime's Graves near Brandon. The town of Ipswich is home to twelve medieval churches, while its Tudor Christchurch Mansion boasts the best collection of Constable and Gainsborough works outside London. Other cultural attractions include the Maltings Concert Hall at Snape, famous for its Benjamin Britten connections and venue for the annual Aldeburgh Festival.
Diverse landscapes and an impressive network of waymarked paths make Suffolk a good place to explore on foot or cycle, and the RSPB’s flagship Minsmere Nature Reserve is a must for wildlife lovers.
