Description:
Pullwood Bay Estates is spectacularly situated in 51 acres of private gardens and woodland, with a half-mile of glorious lake frontage on Windermere. We also have our own private jetty, from which you can enjoy a trip across the lake, on one of the Windermere Lake Cruise boats. The estate is poised on the quieter side of Windermere, between the picturesque town of Ambleside and the lovely village of Hawkshead, in the heart of the southern Lake District. We are only a two hour drive from Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow or Edinburgh, yet just minutes from the grandeur of the Langdale Pikes and the beauty of Lake Windermere and Coniston Water, as well as the delights of the world-famous Drunken Duck Inn at Barngates.
All our five star apartments have just been awarded the Enjoy England "Gold Award" for exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service. The 12 superb apartments and the luxurious detached Wyke Bay are beautifully appointed to the very highest standard, with wood or slate flooring in all living, kitchen and dining areas, and under floor heating and surround sound throughout. Each apartment is fully equiped with Poggenpohl kitchens; including washer / dryers, dishwashers, fridge freezers and any item of kitchen wear you should require. All bedrooms enjoy en-suite facilities with Philippe Starck designed wash wear, heated mirrors and towel radiators and travertine tiling to finish. And the power showers and large, double ended baths are truly fabulous, especially if you are returning from a long day from walking or sight-seeing! There are 42” flat screen televisions in each living room as well as a smaller flat screen in each bedroom. But you may prefer to simply enjoy the most breathtaking views instead, or wander out of your apartment and down to the lake, which is simply a minute stroll from each apartment! We also have fantastic drying cabinets in each apartment, just in case you need to dry boots and coats or swimming items if you visit the Low Wood Leisure Centre, of which we are members.
Bed linen and towels are included with each stay, along with tea towels and oven gloves. We also provide salt and pepper, as well as a ‘starter pack’ of toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing machine tablets, dishwasher powder and washing-up liquid. These are family cottages, with children of any age welcome in any of the seven cottages detailed below. We can also arrange cot and high chair hire. With the Lake District being such a walking area we also accept one dog with each party. Although we do not accept large dogs of a hairy nature, as we must consider the comfort of future guests.
All cottages have fridge-freezers, dishwashers (with the exception of Coach House 1 and The Cedars), irons with ironing boards and vacuum cleaners. Most cottages also have at least one real open fire and both wood and coal are provided for guests, although there is a charge for coal usage. Bed linen and towels are included, along with tea towels and oven gloves. The Lodge and The Cedars have gas central heating, whilst Deer Corner, Curlew Close and Fieldside are heated with night storage heaters as well as having extra electric heaters. Coach House 1 and Coach House 2 have electric wall mounted heaters. Laundry facilities are available for the use of cottage guests. Located near to the main house, there is a coin-operated washing machine and coin-operated tumble dryer.
Location:
Pullwood Bay is located in the heart of the Lake District, on the quieter, north west shore of Lake Windermere, two miles from the town of Ambleside and seven miles from the town of Windermere itself. It is only thirteen miles from Kendal and twenty miles from the M6 motorway. All our woodland cottages are well situated to enjoy both the private estate and the many local attractions on offer in the Lake District. The fifty acres of woodland and gardens attract many different animals and birds, with many sightings of deer, badgers, foxes and even otters. We also have a resident tawny owl and buzzard, to name but a few of our estate bird life. With so many different birds and animals to spot along the way, and plenty of space for all the family, walks on the estate are very popular with guests. Our half mile drive leads many down to the jetty and lake shore. Here you can sit and admire the amazing views, feed the water birds or catch a boat across the lake. It is a truly magical setting for a holiday.
