Location:
Aviemore sits at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains on the western side of the UK’s largest National Park. There are over 50 munros (peaks over 3000 feet) in the Cairngorms with Cairngorm (Blue Mountain) itself being 4084 feet high with a plateau of pink granite. The Aviemore Centre and village has undergone a multi million pound makeover which has rejuvenated the area giving this wonderful place a real buzz. This is now truly a year round holiday destination with almost every outdoor activity catered for. Those looking for a relaxing break can choose from walking, fishing, golfing (8 local courses), whisky tasting, bird watching, swimming and perhaps even sunbathing yes it does get hot here! The more adventurous however may want to try skiing,snow boarding, mountain biking, climbing, gliding, clay pigeon shooting, dog sledding, kayaking, yachting and 4x4 driving. If you have any time left there are great places to visit including Loch Morlich, Loch Insh, Loch an Eilean, Strathspey Steam Railway, Cairngorm Mountain Railway, Carrbridge Visitor Centre, Rothiemurchus Highland Estate Glenmore Lodge and Landmark Forest Theme Park. And of course there are plenty of hotels restaurants and bars for wining dining and dancing.
