The coastline around Melvaig and to the Rua Reidh Lighthouse, is rugged; a haven for nesting birds, seals, whales, basking sharks and otters. The Beinn Eighe Reserve and the Torridon Mountains are just a short distance away from the numerous sandy beaches and bays which are located around Melvaig, Gairloch and Red Point. The area's attractions include whale-watching and marine life trips, salmon, sea trout, brown trout, pike and sea fishing, bird-watching, falconry courses, golf course, pony trekking, swimming pool, bike and car hire, deer-stalking and deer museum, guided hill walks and guided climbing. Also sea kayaking, and boat trips on Loch Maree to view the Viking graves, and the famous Inverewe Gardens.
