Raasay Holiday Cottage





Description:

Raasay is a purpose built, warm and comfortable holiday home. Located just 80 yards from the sea, and with private access to the beach, the house is located within a 4 acre croft in the quiet crofting community of Melvaig, some nine miles from Gairloch.

The cottage has two bedrooms; one double, and one twin. Both bedrooms have ample storage within fitted wardrobes, and include black out blinds for those light mornings. It is okay to sleep in, you are on holiday!

The bathroom has a bath, separate fully enclosed shower cubicle with power shower, sink, WC and shaver adaptor, along with a large heated towel rail to ensure your towels are always ready for use.

The lounge diner is L-shaped, and has magnificent picture windows to three aspects, giving superb views over the garden to the sea and out to Skye, Harris and Lewis. Included is a 50 inch HD television with Freesat satellite television reception, DVD player, a hifi radio system including DAB, FM and internet radio, two sofas, a dining table with four seats and a telephone which can receive incoming calls and allows outgoing emergency calls.

The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, microwave oven, fridge and freezer, plus a range of cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery etc. There is a further porch which has a washing machine, tumble dryer and space for hanging outdoor clothes.

The gardens are laid to lawn and gravel. There is a large washing line, so you can dry your laundry outside. There is also a picnic bench and a small bistro table and two chairs.



Location:

The house overlooks the sea, offering stunning sunsets and views of the Isles of Skye, Harris and Lewis. The Beinn Eighe Mountain Reserve and the Torridon Mountains are both just a short distance away. Even closer are the numerous sandy beaches and bays located around Melvaig, Gairloch and Red Point.

The areas local attractions include: whale watching and marine trips, including visits to the puffin colonies on the Shiant islands, salmon, sea trout, brown trout, pike and sea fishing. Also found locally are bird watching, falconry, pony trekking, and a golf course at Gairloch.

Further activities include boat trips on Loch Maree to view Viking graves, cycle and car hire, deer stalking and a deer museum, guided hill walks and climbing, sea kayaking trips, Inverewe Gardens and Poolewe swimming pool.
