Church Court Cottages

Our three beautiful red sandstone cottages include: THE BARN sleeping 4 (in a double room and a twin room), spacious HELM COTTAGE (with a king room) and cosy HERDWICK COTTAGE (with its double room), both accommodating 2 guests.

The Barn is spacious and open plan, with original beams, ample natural light, wonderful North Pennine views, a fully fitted kitchen and all essentials including a washing machine and tumble dryer. Helm and Herdwick Cottages are perfect for couples, featuring a character beamed ceiling, ensuite bedrooms and in Helm exposed red sandstone walls.

All three cottages can be booked together and are perfect for larger groups, giving personal space in your own cottage, whilst enjoying the benefit of a great communal area in the large open plan space in The Barn (our largest cottage) and outside in the courtyard when the weather is good. Each cottage contains a colour TV, DVD, radio/CD player and newly installed heating. Fully equipped kitchens include cookers and hobs, microwaves, dishwashers, fridges, utensils and crockery.

Guests have access to a shared courtyard with parking for one car per cottage. We also have bike storage space onsite. Bookings include reasonable electric usage, heating, towels and bed-linen. Cots, highchairs and welcome meals are also available please request when booking.

Electricity is not included in the rental charge and is charged at 25p per kwh (non profit charge), payable by debit/credit card (details taken on arrival) or cash at the end of the holiday. We also request a 50 refundable damages deposit payable on arrival and returned within a week of departure by BACS.

We are very happy to welcome well behaved dogs at Church Court Cottages.

We are situated in the peaceful village of Gamblesby, nestled under Hartside Fell and surrounded by amazing scenery and wildlife. Once you discover our little sanctuary, you won't want to leave ! We are in a fantastic location for many varied pursuits. Within a 5 mile radius, there are at least 5 country pubs that do great food and are mostly dog friendly. There are many local walks for strolling or serious hiking and great scenery for the avid photographer. Birds and Wildlife are in abundance, we even have our own friendly hedgehog that visits nightly! not to mention the deer, badgers, hares, rabbits, red squirrels, weasels, owls, raptors and numerous local small birds, as well as our village sheep.

We are also a popular area for cyclists. Our village is a quiet peaceful village away from main roads, but close enough to have the advantage of being able to easily reach main routes, tourist attractions and of course the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall, Gretna Green, Carlisle and Scotland!
