3 Heanish, Isle Of Tiree





Description:

This traditional style West Coast cottage has been recently renovated. It is routinely maintained and decorated and is well equipped throughout. Heating is either by electric heaters or by coal fire. The water is heated by immersion. Electricity is not included and coal can be bought at several shops on the island. The cottage is traditional west coast cottage with 3 foot thick walls. Originally was a thatched cottage but now has a black saddle shaped roof. The cottage stands on its own 1 mile from one of the main villages with lovely views of most of the island.

The 2 bedroom cottage sleeps 4/5, one double room and one twin room (both supplied with duvets and pillows, no bed linen or towels supplied) and is ideal family accommodation. We insist on no pets and a non smoking policy. To operate a immediate entry policy tenants are asked to keep the cottage clean and tidy. The Sittingroom comprises of 3 piece suite and 2 seater settee, coffee table, teletext TV, dvd player, and CD hi fi. The Kitchen is equipped with washing machine, microwave, cooker, fridge, freezer. There is a fitted kitchen with adequate dishes and cooking utensils. A folding table and 6 folding chairs can be used either in kitchen or living room.There is also a tumble drier in the porch. The Double Bedroom has a built in wardrobe, warm cupboard, small bedside unit and a 5 drawer chest. The Twinroom has 2 single beds. There also is a large double wardrobe with fold down bed, a 3 drawer and a 5 drawer chest plus bedside cabinet. Bathroom is a reasonably spacious room with toilet, washhand basin, bath with electric shower. There also is a heated towel rail and timed heater. The cottage has a building joining it which is not occupied. The two buildings are in grounds 40m square, mainly off grass and containing a byre. This leaves plenty of space for children to play in safely. Beside the byre is a small building left open for tenants to keep large items like bikes and water sports gear. There are 3 patio areas one either side of the kitchen both with picnic tables and one at the south end of the buildings with table and chairs. The nearest beach is 150m south of the cottage.



Location:

This is an unspoilt haven that has a special feel to it. Because as you set foot on the island there is a sensation that your troubles can be felt lifting from you. The Isle of Tiree is a place for peace, freedom, relaxation where you can enjoy your interests like walking, cycling, eating out, bird watching, botany, golf, fishing, photography and visit the archaeological sites. If you like to speed things up there is windsurfing with a school for beginners, kite surfing, sand yachting, water sports, running and cycling.

All this on an island about 11 miles by 4 home to an abundance of resident and migrating birds, large areas of wild flowers, white sandy beaches some 2.5 miles long, all surrounded by the Atlantic ocean deep blue and turquoise with its powerful waves at some parts to the gentle waves running up the beach. It has an extraordinary feel of space as the island is flat and the views extend for several miles. The island has a thriving community living off the land and sea with the other backbone occupations of civil services, hotels, garages, building work, cottage industries and tourism are also thriving. Tiree is on the west coast of Scotland in Argyll and Bute about 50 miles from Oban. You can get there from Glasgow by rail with Scotrial or coach with citylink to Oban then ferry with Caledonian Mcbrayne (Calmac) to Tiree. There is a direct flight from Glasgow with Flybe every day except Sundays and can be linked up with the island car hire at MacLennan Motors.

This traditional self catering cottage in a tranquil location in Heanish is excellently equipped, extremely comfortable and an ideal family cottage. Just one mile to the east is the main village of Scarinish, with bank, supermarket and hotel. While one mile west is Traigh Bhagh the second biggest beach of the 15 main beaches on Tiree at Crossapol. The panoramic view to the west reaches from Kenovay, Crossapol, Balimartin, and Mannal all the way to Hynish below the Golf Ball. Views to the east include Scarinish, Coalas, Coll, Mull, Islay and Jura. This typical holiday home at No 3 Heanish is ideally located for you to explore Tiree or peruse your interests.
