Description:
Park Street is one of the small streets leading from the market place with rows of finely built terraced cottages. Clipstone is one such, stone built, cottage adjacent to and externally mirroring Craigendale Cottage, near one of the narrow wynds that break the line of terraces and provides access to the rear of the cottages and their gardens. Entry from Park Street is to a light and cosy lounge with decorative Victorian fireplace. Through the lounge is a well equipped, shaker style kitchen with central dining table and rear access to the patio garden. A stairway rises from between the lounge and kitchen to a small landing serving a double bedroom with decorative Victorian fireplace, a half tiled bathroom with bath, washbasin and toilet and a twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, washbasin and toilet. Behind the cottage is a gravelled patio garden with informal flower pots and tubs to provide a private space to sit and relax. The adjacent wynd, and hence Park Street, can be reached from the garden. The cottage has been recently renovated and refurbished with conscientious detail and innovation blending the charm of a terraced cottage with all that is modern and comfortable in fittings, furniture and colour. A stylish, contemporary cottage with lots of character, that offers a high standard of accommodation. Duvets and pillows are provided with linen and towels included in the rent. Gas central heating and electricity included. Colour television, Free View, DVD, radio/CD/cassette player, microwave oven, automatic washer/dryer, shaver point, hairdryer, cot and highchair, garden furniture. Shops, pubs, restaurant, bus route nearby. Street parking in front of the cottage or off road parking by arrangement. Strictly non smoking. One well behaved dog welcome, £10.00 extra. A heating supplement of £20.00 per week will be charged from 6 January 2010 until 30 April 2010 and from 23 October 2010 until 6 January 2011. For short winter breaks the charge will be £5.00 per night.
Location:
In the last reaches of the Pennines the river Ure twists and turns with the undulating landscape. The river is now so full and wide that bridging is difficult and sites of crossings are route centres, around which important local settlements were founded. One such settlement is the small market town of Masham, a ‘Gateway to The Dales’. An ancient market town since 1393 with one of the largest market places in the north of England, now faced by stylish Georgian buildings which surround the central market cross. The once famed annual sheep sales, where over 80,000 head would be sold in just three days still continues to this day during September, albeit on a much smaller scale, as does one of the North’s largest steam rallies in July. Now most famous for the Theakston’s and Black Sheep breweries, both owned by the Theakston family who first started brewing in 1827 and warmly welcome visitors to watch them ply their crafts and sample the rewards of their labour. The town is embraced by the river and surrounding slopes and sits picturesquely with the tall spire of Saint Mary’s church visible from miles around. Pretty riverside walks with parkland and playing fields on the doorstep, the nearby stately grounds of Swinton Castle with its delicious restaurant, the fun-park at Lightwater Valley and the not so distant attractions of Ripon, Harrogate and York offer enjoyment and excitement for all.
