Sgarbh Lodge

Description:

Sgarbh Lodge, pronounced 'Skarrav Lodge', the Gaelic word for cormorant, is self-catering accommodation in a beautiful, recently renovated, traditional croft house which sits in an elevated position on the slopes of Loch Pooltiel. The Lodge is almost 100 years old and has panoramic views across the loch.

Sleeps 7 in two double en-suite bedrooms, a twin ensuite bedroom and a single bedroom with its own private bathroom. All bedrooms have sea views and their own TV. Inside Sgarbh Lodge you can sit and relax in the living area which faces the same stunning views or catch up on your emails as free WiFi is available.

Location:

Sgarbh Lodge is situated in several acres of open croft land over-looking Loch Pooltiel. It has uninterrupted views across the Loch and across the Minch to the Western Isles. Sgarbh Lodge has uninterrupted views north over the sea and dark skies, allowing the Northern Lights to be seen from the rooms and garden. The aurora is usually photographed on over 100 nights per year in Glendale, making this one of the best places in the UK to photograph the Northern Lights.

Just a ten-minute drive from Sgarbh Lodge, these stunning, sea cliffs are a mecca for wildlife watching, with regularly sightings of minke whales, porpoises and dolphins on a daily basis during the summer months. The cliffs are home to nesting black guillemots, shags, fulmars and kittiwakes.

There is a small seal colony in Loch Pooltiel directly in front of Sgarbh Lodge and dolphins, minke whales and basking sharks are occasionally seen in the loch. White-tailed eagles are regularly seen around the lodge.
