Portland Hideaway

Description:

Portland Hideaway is located in the perfect position for those who want an activity packed coastal holiday, enjoy sightseeing, or those planning on simply relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery. Portland is a walker’s paradise, with coastal routes over every part of it and access to the coastal paths just 100 metres from the Hideaway. There’s tons of history as well as secluded little coves and Portland Bill and its lighthouses are within easy walking distance with some of the most spectacular views of the Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site, only minutes away. For the more athletically inclined, there is every form of water sport known to man on the Portland Hideaway’s doorstep: swimming, surfing, paragliding, waterskiing, windsurfing, diving, fishing, kayaking, as well as kiting, and hang gliding for the truly adventurous. For those of a safer disposition, Weymouth’s wonderful sandy beach, sunshine record and laid-back atmosphere offers a more traditional seaside experience, whilst visits to major attractions like Lyme Regis and Monkey World are all close at hand. The apartment comfortably sleeps up to 2 people making it ideal for sole travellers and especially for couples.

This four star modern, self contained apartment offers spacious accommodation, with seating and dining capacity for four plus and a large living area that can be separated from the sleeping area by a portable screen to provide additional privacy. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped and includes a washer/drier, fridge freezer, microwave, gas cooker with oven and grill, toaster, kettle and slow-cooker. The lounge contains two leather settees, Satellite television provides over 140 channels including movies, plus a selection of DVDs and a wide selection of books and games. The bedroom area is a generous size with a double bed, wardrobe and dressing unit. The apartment also offers a large sunny, fully enclosed, gravelled patio area with a fence that extends to over 2 metres in height where you can soak up the sun on the full-size sun loungers or relax on the wooden garden furniture while watching local, fresh fish cook slowly on the BBQ. Also, if you have a dog, you can let it play with confidence.

Private off-road parking, WIFI access, weekly housekeeping and crisp clean, bed linen is provided. For those who plan a romantic get away, champagne and chocolates can be provided on request. Howard and Christine also provide a “visitor’s bible” which contains a wealth of information about the local area, including its history and they’ve even planned a circular walk around the island, identifying all the points of interest along the way. The guide also contains detailed information about the area including lots of brochures about activities in and around Dorset, which may leave you feeling pretty guilty if you’re just planning to laze around in the sun all day!

One of the advantages of the Portland Hideaway is that everything is on the one level, which is great for those of us who aren’t as agile as they would like. There is nothing worse than having to struggle in and out of a bath for a meagre trickle from an electric shower and this is where the Portland Hideaway’s shower room is a winner. A modern shower cubicle reveals a drenching rain showerhead that, together with the gas combination boiler that was designed to cater for all the heating and hot water needs of a 4 bedroom house, will bring you back to life in the morning, or sooth away effects of a long day of activity.
