Cider Barrel Cottage


The spacious, farm cottage sleeps 4 and offers 800 sq. ft. (75 sq. m) of living space. It has been converted from a single storey stone farm building, formerly used as a cider store in bygone times and has been equipped to a very high standard.

The accommodation has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, with a lounge, large kitchen/dining room, shower over bath room, entrance porch and a small conservatory with french doors opening onto a south west facing sun terrace with charcoal barbecue, table and chairs.

Prices are from £320 - £560 all inclusive, including heating, linen and towels plus cot and high chair if booked in advance. CHANGEOVER DAY Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday.

The master bedroom has a 5 foot wide bed. The second bedroom has two full sized single beds. The bathroom has a shower over bath and an airing cupboard. The kitchen/diner has microwave, Colour TV, radio/CD player, refrigerator, automatic washer/dryer, dishwasher and a well equipped kitchen. Cooking is by an electric cooker. The lounge has two twin sofas, an electric stove for additional heating, colour TV, DVD player some DVDs and a selection of indoor games. The conservatory has two cane chairs, a panel heater and there is a sun parasol for use with the garden furniture.

Prices are inclusive of linen and towels and a few consumables to get guests started. Cleaning and replacements take place weekly. The cottage benefits from double glazing and there is full oil fired central heating. There is no gas in the cottage. Smoke alarms are fitted and there is a fire blanket in the kitchen.

A handbook and several local tourist brochures are provided to assist guest to make the most of their stay. The use of a cot and high chair (notified in advance) are without extra charge.

The cottage is all on one level. Access is by a shingle path making it difficult for wheelchairs. There is one step into the cottage and three steps to the garden terrace. The cottage is situated in the (National Garden Scheme – yellow book) beautiful half acre part walled gardens with mature specimen trees, sweeping herbaceous borders, rockeries and lawns. There is an adjacent accessible 4 acre traditional working cider apple orchard. Ample seating is provided to enjoy the gardens and views. A babbling brook runs through the property and is suitably fenced in the farmyard and rear garden to provide a relatively safe environment for children to play. PIR courtesy lighting is provided for walkways.

Facilities include a large concrete off road parking area suitable for several cars and secure storage for bicycles Guests may freely use the garden and orchard with their extensive seating for relaxation.

Open fields surround the Farm complex providing an idyllic private, quiet (with the odd ‘moo’ or ‘bah’) rural location.
