Location:

Sandwick has much to offer the Visitor, there is a Licenced Hotel (The Barclay Arms at Hoswick) where you can have a hot meal before embarking on a coastal walk back to the village of Leebitton. When at Leebitton it is a must to contact Mr Tom Jamieson, Telephone: 01950 431367, or online at www.mousaboattrips.co.uk to organize a trip to the Island of Mousa to see the world’s largest and best preserved Pictish Broch. Also the teaming wildlife including the seal colony at the south of the Isle, where the seals can be observed closely. The Parish of Sandwick was awarded Village of the year in 2004. The Sandwick (Shop/Bakery/PostOffice) is approx ¾ of a mile away. Nearby is Sandwick’s modern Swimming Pool including Steam room. A short walk takes you to the village of Hoswick where you can call along the Warp and Weft Visitor Centre to view the Knitwear and local Crafts before relaxing in the Cafe over a cup of tea or a bowl of soup after your swim. In the cottage is a copy of Peter Guy’s book ‘South Mainland Walks’ which gives a commentary and illustrations on walks in Sandwick.
