Location:

Mulranny has always been a popular tourist destination, very famous for its magnificent scenery and lovely beach. There is a plethora of outdoor activities visitors can choose from.

The area is a haven for anglers. Clew Bay provides for deep sea and shore angling and its large range of species include mackerel, pollock, cod and skate. Boats are readily available. Fresh Water angling is well catered for with the River Owengarve and Lough Furnace and Lough Feeagh.

The village has a nine hole golf course situated on the sandy banks above the bay. Rates are reasonable and all are welcome.

The area is excellent for cycling with miles of quiet by roads along the sea front. Within easy reach (500m) from the cottages the Great Western Greenway rolls passing through open farmland, bog and woodland. Bicycles are available for hire from the proprietor.

There is a lovely sandy beach beside the village with a guard on duty during the summer months, ideal for children and families.

With 3500 hectares of rugged countryside untouched for the last 5000 years the area is ideal for hillwalking. This vast expanse stretches north, from within half a kilometre of cottages, to the Nephin Mountain range. Guided walks can be arranged by proprietor.

While staying at Kelly Cottage, visitors can also take tour historic sites such as Carrighahowly Castle, Burrishoole Abbey and Spanish Armada sites at Corraun and Ballycroy or discover highlights of the region: Ballycroy National Park, Westport and Newport are within easy reach.
